Primary Science at Janney
Primary Science (1-3) – Fran McCrackin, Room L10 – [email protected]
In primary science classes at Janney students will build understanding of big concepts about the world through direct observation and inquiry. They will experience the thrill of seeing tangible results and the surprise when the results are not what they expected, and they have to adjust their understanding. Using both the lab and the schoolyard, they will learn the value of close observation of organisms and phenomena and of making multiple observations over time. They will learn to share and communicate their ideas and findings. They will value wonder and questioning. They will grow into environmentally literate citizens. Each year, each grade has units in physical science, Earth and space science, and life science. We use the Next Generation Science Standards. Check out http://www.nextgenscience.org/ . |
